Sports stars outshine Hollywood celebrities at CES 2017

The biggest celebrities appearing at CES 2017, the annual consumer electronics show in Las Vegas, were sports stars. The event this year ran Jan. 5-8.
Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps appeared on stage during the keynote speech by Under Armour founder and CEO Kevin Plank.
Hoops giant Shaquille O’Neal roamed the exhibit floor to check out the latest gadgets when he wasn’t appearing on the TNT show “Inside the NBA,” which broadcast from CES.
Fellow NBA star Charles Barkley also was at CES to appear on “Inside the NBA.”
NFL great Joe Montana took part in a panel discussion at CES.
Other professional sports figures at CES 2017 included MLB stars Bryce Harper and Dexter Fowler and NBA stars Grant Hill and Chris Bosh.
Hollywood stars at CES 2017 included B-list actors and actresses, such as Octavia Spencer (“Hidden Figures”), Aisha Tyler (“Criminal Minds” and “Archer”), Carly Chaikin (“Mr. Robot”) and Nick Offerman (“Parks and Recreation”).
From the music business, Wu-Tang Clan leader RZA appeared at the Roli booth and singer Akon showed up at the House of Marley booth. Nick Jonas was a celebrity guest at an Altec Lansing party.
“Saturday Night Live” Weekend Update hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che opened T-Mobile’s Un-carrier Next event at CES with their humorous take on the wireless industry.
As usual, a lot of the star power at CES was reserved for private parties.
Sting performed at a concert for Harman at the Hard Rock. The Chainsmokers performed at an iHeartRadio event. Gwen Stefani performed at the Jewel nightclub for MediaLink, Conde Nast and Universal Music.
George Benson performed at a Monster concert at Planet Hollywood. T-Pain and DJ Jazzy Jeff performed at a TiVo show at the SLS Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. Blink 182 performed at the CNet party after Lenny Kravitz got sick with the flu.
